Fire Flow Testing
Hydrant and system fire-flow testing to NFPA 291, establishing available flow at each location and marking hydrants by class.
We conduct fire-flow tests in accordance with NFPA 291 to establish the water supply actually available for firefighting at a given location. Using calibrated pitot and pressure equipment, we measure static, residual, and flow pressures and calculate the rated capacity at 20 psi.
Results give departments, engineers, and insurers a documented picture of available fire flow for pre-planning, hydrant marking, and system design decisions.
A typical fire-flow test includes
- Static and residual pressure readings
- Flow measurement with calibrated pitot gauges
- Calculation of available flow at 20 psi
- Color-coded hydrant classification per NFPA 291
- On-site written report with flow results for each location
Our technicians coordinate closely with your department or utility to test safely and with minimal impact on the surrounding system.
