Utility Equipment Inspections
Complete safety inspection program for aerial devices and digger derricks meeting current ANSI and ASTM guidelines.
We provide a complete and comprehensive Safety Inspection Program to meet current ANSI and ASTM guidelines for performing visual and NDT inspections along with operational and functional tests on all types of aerial devices and digger derricks. We provide a thorough inspection of all areas of the equipment, including:
- General
- Truck / Chassis Area
- Pedestal Area
- Lower Boom Turret Area
- Lower Boom
- Second Stage or Upper Boom
- Platform
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Technicians performing NDT are ASNT SNT-TC-1A and CP-189 certified in all methods, which include:
- Trans-layer Structural Analysis (TSA) — The latest technology for the inspection of insulated aerial devices and digger derricks.
- Acoustic Emission — Global structural analysis of fiberglass and metal booms.
- Ultrasonic Inspection — Internal check of pins and fasteners using ultrasonic sound waves.
- Magnetic Particle / Liquid Penetrant — Welding inspection on all types of metals.
Operational & Functional Test
A functional test is performed to check the controls, bearings, pins, bushings, cylinders, holding valves, ladder extension cables, platform leveling mechanisms, outriggers, and more. This test also inspects for worn swing bearings/gear boxes, worn pins/bushings, and loose bolts, which are critical to the operation of the aerial device.
The operation of the platform shall include movement from minimum to maximum elevation and extension as well as rotating to the left and to the right. Booms and platforms shall operate without any improper or unusual motion or sound.
